INTERNATIONAL YOUTH EXCHANGE “Local Springs of Global Change”, 11.-18.7.2021, Jurovski Dol, Slovenia

Join us in Slovenia and meet some of the most important biodynamic farmers in the country: dr. Maja and dr. Matjaž Turinek (two Ph.D’s of biodynamic agriculture one one farm! – production of vegetables, berries and apples), Karl Vogrinčič (beekeeping), and Radovan Šuman (winemaker), who successfully manage their farms in the times of climate change.

Enjoy the local ecological food, harvest lavender from our fields and meet some brave Slovenian NGO’s in their fight to protect water.

Key topics of the Exchange: care for water and local natural resources, organic farming, youth work in the age of climate change, international photography competition.

We kindly invite you to the international youth exchange “Local Springs of Global Change”, which will take place at the organic farm Zelena centrala in Jurovski Dol between 11 and 18 July 2021.

Young people aged 18 to 30 from SLOVENIA and ITALY, concerned about climate change, who want to learn more about examples of good practice in the Slovenian countryside, are invited.

The international exchange will connect at least 12 young people from Slovenia and Italy in a varied and well-thought-out schedule from Monday to Saturday (Sundays are for arrival and departure). Meetings with Slovenian ecological movements, good films, visits to organic farms, some joint work on the farm, a manifesto for youth work in the times of climate change and the selection of winners of the international photography competition are just some of the activities that will fill our time.

Basic highlights by days…

Monday: first meeting of the participants and a guided tour of the farm Zelena centrala with the leader of the project and the farm – internationally acclaimed writer and journalist Nataša Kramberger, ecological farmer herself. In the afternoon, meeting with several Slovenian civil associations and movements dealing with the protection of natural resources, especially water. How can a small NGO fight a big multinational organization and protect a river? Come and you’ll find it out!

Tuesday: excursion around Slovenske gorice, visiting the biodynamic ecologic farm Turinek, ecologic beekeeping Vogrinčič and biodynamic ecologic viticulture Šuman. How are organic farmers coping with climate change? What is their contribution to the fight against global warming? This trip will provide you with all answers!

Wednesday: joint work on the organic farm Zelena centrala. Establishing simple elements for collecting water, arranging the pond and … Have you ever distilled lavender essential oil? Don’t miss the opportunity!

Thursday: working together on the organic farm Zelena centrala and creating a manifesto for youth work in a time of climate change.

Friday: selection of the winners of the international photography competition Local Springs of Global Change under the mentor-ship of professional documentary photographers. A short photography workshop. A great opportunity for anyone who wants more advice on how to turn their thoughts and feelings about climate change into photography!

Saturday: open day with the announcement of the winners of the photographic competition, socializing with organic food and drink, fire and striking thoughts for the future. Join us!

All activities, as well as accommodation in Jurovski Dol, travel costs of arrival and departure, local organic food and drinks and all other possible costs are paid for all participants from the Erasmus + program.
